This one day program is designed to equip all nurses who work with HIV/AIDS clients in doctor’s offices, hospitals, ambulatory care units, and correctional settings with basic knowledge needed to provide high quality and comprehensive care to HIV/AIDS clients. After completing these modules the nurse will be able to: 1) discuss the latest HIV/AIDS treatment guidelines and antiretroviral therapies, 2) state how adherence and resistance effect antiretroviral therapy, 3) discuss the implications and therapy when clients are co-infected with Hepatitis and HIV, 4) discuss the implications and therapies when working with triple diagnosed (HIV, Substance Abuse and Mental Illness), and 5) discuss the prevention and care issues for women who are infected with HIV as compared to men.
